My home town

January 17th, 2003 | Comments Off | Posted in Older Notes

Angleton, Texas. Population approximately 21,000. Average temperature 71 degrees. Average humidity 74%. 15 minutes from Texas Gulf Coast, it isn’t uncommon to hear seagull in the parking lot.

This is a funny town. Last week I went hunting for a devise that would allow me to record telephone conversation to facilitate working in an open office and needing to record interviews with subject matter experts. I check Wal-Mart and Radio Shack (these are really the only two places in town to search). Neither place had the device in stock. They carried it but cashiers at both places said they couldn’t keep them on the shelf. In Angleton it seems that there are many folks recording their phone conversations. Watch out.

There are funny people. This weekend I got hit on by my first real Bubba. His name was Bubba, he wore a cowboy hat, he was balding underneath, and he was very drunk. I knew him from high school. His best pick up line was, “I heard you’d gotten fat, but I’d date you anyway.” Right. Thanks, Bubba, that’s okay, I’ll pass.

At least I’ve got my sense of humor.
