I’ve never been to New Orleans. The city holds some secret fascination for me and it has for a long time. I don’t know how to express what I’m feeling about the devastation. I grew up on the Gulf Coast, flooding and hurricanes are just part of life. However, I’ve never realized how bad it could get for people. The wind and rain would come and blow down a fence or a roof and we’d all work to repair the broken glass, but it was nothing compared to what is happening in New Orleans right now.
I want to send out my best wishes and prayers to those who are struggling for life and property. The property can be replaced, possessions and things—but life is a precious thing and I hope as many people as possible can be saved from that kind of loss.
