Repetition is the Mother of Skill

October 27th, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in Creativity, Gleaned

If something is meaningful maybe it’s more meaningful said ten times…repetition does enlarge or increase or exaggerate an idea or purpose in a statement. — Eva Hesse

Jackie Winsor created this piece by winding twin around a framework of wood. Winding is a repetitive task, one that absorbs the mind and the body over the course of time. Duration and the process that happen within in are integral parts of Winsor’s artwork. Like Hesse, Winsor wrapped and bound objects to draw attention to her working method, which she once described as ‘making time’ and ‘percieving time’ so that form grows out of process.” via S.F.M.O.M.A.
