Some R&R Time

January 30th, 2008 Posted in Fitness, Painting, Personal Notes, Reading

Well I’ve made it safely back to the Pacific Northwest and I’ve spent the last two weeks getting re-acclimated. Well, and taking some time to sit around and do nothing. A luxury I didn’t have while in Texas. It was wonderful getting to spend so much time with my family, and equally as wonderful to spend an entire weekend reading in my pajamas.

I finished three books last weekend, Hanna’s Daughters by Marianne Fredrickson, Identity by Mulan Kundera, and Beasts by Joyce Carol Oates. I’ll take some time to write more on those later. They were all very good and I recommend them on different merits.

So, now, I’m finally getting caught up with unpacking, laundry, and getting things in order here. I haven’t worked out or even actively exercised since Christmas. But I’ve signed up for my bi-weekly strength training, as well as training for the half-marathon in April. Both start next week. I also plan on starting Belly dance next week, though I think there is a Hafla this Saturday, which I may attend just to watch and get back into the spirit of the dance.

I’ve really been taking my sweet time ramping up since I’ve gotten back but I miss blogging and I miss working out–so a time for rest is just about over and I’m ready to get some things done. On that note, I’ve also been asked for art from a couple of different people so it’s time to clear some space and break out the paints. How can I deny my people? I must give them what they want.

“taking some time to sit around and do nothing” — Wonderful. :-)
Speaking of unpacking, I haven’t unpacked my other bag from my trip two weeks ago. Horror.
